Kaiden grew up as an urchin, stealing and doing whatever means necessary to survive alongside his parents. Eventually, he fell in with a vicious wandering thieves’ group known as the Ophidians. Though being with the group allowed him much-needed money, he grew sick of the constant jobs, the constant rebukings of his failures, the constant feeling of being backed into a corner and having no choices regarding survival. One night, when he was 18 years old, Kaiden decided that enough was enough and tried to leave the Ophidians. But they caught him, and they severely punished his disloyalty. By all accounts, he should’ve died that day—he was prepared to die that day. However, the smithy from a nearby town, Tamok MacGillian, found his body on the side of the road, nursed him back to health, and took the displaced young man as his new apprentice. That was three years ago, and now, with rumors at their heels, Kaiden finds himself needing another change.
