Ten years ago, Maven Snowbourne was no one.

 

A thirteen-year-old tiefling with skin cold to the touch and no memories to speak of, she pushed through the trees of a forest she did not know, running from something she couldn’t hope to name. A ranger from the circle of druids, a woman named Istra Snowbourne, found her lost in the brush and took her in as her own daughter, bestowing the name “Maven” on the lost tiefling.

 

As the years went on, Maven soon grew to love the Adri forest that was her new home. She found a place among the circle’s rangers, with her seemingly innate affinity for the cold and the dark allowing her a natural advantage to patrolling the darker places of the forest. Maven quickly became an expert archer and a fierce protector of her new home. Yet still, even after ten years of living among the druids, Maven was still considered a child by the others. Skilled, but unprepared for the real world.

 

Until, on the eve of Imbolc, a halfling burst into the Adri forest with an urgent message from the Dreadwood. Druids were being murdered, and no one was prepared to fight.

 

Maven volunteered to go.

 

The world is a wide and dangerous place, but Maven is ready to see everything she can. After all, she has a lot of memories to replace—and a home to protect.
